Learn and practice step-by-step drawing skills including how to use lines, shading and perspective to create a satisfying drawing that conveys form, light and space. We will be working from direct observation of still life, and also exercises from the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Ideal for beginners, and also for those who want to continue on to paining, or for those who area already painting and want to sharpen their drawing skills. Materials list available.

Creating Paintings with Watercolor - NEW START DATE!

We will explore the proper use of matrials including brushes, paper, selecting your colors and color mixing. We will also practice planning the composition with a pencil sketch, and working from large washes to small details. Instructor will help each student individually as well as give group instruction. All levels welcome. Some previous drawing recommended. Materials list available.

The Art of Photography

Explore photography as an art form - a way of sharing your feelings and emotions about something or someone - a landscape, a sunset, a friend - with other people, through the medium of the photograph. This workshop is about developing your sense of what you like in an image and how to achieve it with the tools at your disposal. We will review how to gain control of your camera, how to find and see beautiful light, how to arrange compositions to your satisfaction and how to evaluate your own work. We will divide our time between presentations on these topics, group feedback on your images, and going on photo shoots along the local shores. All levels of experience are welcome as are all photographic modes -digital or film, color or black and white. For the convenience of group discussion, work will be discussed in print form. (Group size limited to 6 people.)
